Dershowitz on Louis Arbour

I love Alan Dershowitz - here he disects Louis Arbour...
The absurdity and counterproductive nature of current international law was proven once again by a bizarre statement issued on Wednesday by Louise Arbour, The UN's High Commissioner for Human Rights and a former justice of the Canadian Supreme Court. She threatened "personal criminal responsibility" against Israeli generals and political leaders -- "those in positions of command and control" -- for the military actions they are taking to protect innocent civilians from Hezbollah and Hamas rocket and missile attacks.

Her theory of prosecution is that the shelling of cities could "constitute a foreseeable and unacceptable targeting of civilians," presumably even when the actual targets are terrorists and their rocket launchers, and when the Israeli air force takes extraordinary steps to minimize civilian casualties. She also erroneously stated that international law prohibits "the bombardment of sites with alleged military significance, but resulting invariably in the killing of innocent civilians."

Arbour's knowledge of international law is as questionable as her understanding of morality. Virtually every democratic nation has been forced to bomb cities during wartime, especially when the enemy locates crucial military targets near population centres. Under Arbour's erroneous criteria for criminal prosecution, U.S. presidents Bush, Clinton, Nixon, Johnson, Eisenhower, Truman and Roosevelt, as well as British prime ministers Blair and Churchill, and numerous French, Russian, Canadian and other heads of state would be declared war criminals for causing the "foreseeable" deaths of civilians while bombing legitimate military targets. Moreover, terrorists would be encouraged to launch their missiles from cities, so as to induce democracies to violate international law by counter-attacking terrorists
But, read the whole thing - as I said yesterday, Arbour should be ashamed of herself.

The best thing about Arbour is that she is no longer on Canada's high court. After years of screwing up my country she has the whole world to make a mess of.
As a Canadian, this is such a relief. I can think of a few more Liberal party of Canada supporters that should go with her

Whether or not one agrees with Madame Arbour's opion, one must consider how much weight her opinion carries.

Israel has a fragile hold on the opion of the governments of Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia. The majority of the European Union, led by France, Italy, and Germany, are not pro-Israel.

Many religious leaders are calling for Isreal to implement an immediate cease and withdrawal ASAP, such as the World Council of Churches, the United Church of Canada, and the Archbishop of Canterbury, to just name a few.

Canada, in particular, should tread lightly in this subject. Though I happen to agree with Harper's stance on Israel, it will not gain votes. Harper's term as Prime Minister will not be much more than that of Joe Clark's, so he had better pay attention to the urban voter, which isn't as pro-Israel as his Reform/Alliance caucus members would like him to believe.

Look at the situation here in Vancouver, with the crossover David Emerson "representing" us in cabinet, and the likely hood of the Feds not allowing the license for our free drug drop in centre "Insite" to be cancelled....Coupled with the neglect of Ottawa to BC's concern with the Softwood Lumber Deal and Harper's sharp pro-Israeli stance will cost him.....Not one Tory will be elected from Montreal, Toronto or Vancouver, if he keeps this up.

Had Arbour said the same about any other state, Dershowitz would be kissing her ass. When it went against Yougoslavia ,Arbour was hailed as hero in the fight against war criminals and not a word was heard from the zionist Dershowitz.I agree with Arbour to hang the leadership of Israel for war crimes.

Re: Sean P-Germany not pro Israel.
Germany is a perfect example that brainwashing works. After the war ,Britain and the USA sent in zionist jews as INTERROGATORS to torture and falsify history and help establish Israel.Germans were forbidden to honour their soldiers, a distorted version of history was taught to German children ,Germans were foced to pay billions in war reparations to a state that did not even exist during the war and zionist pressure on Germany has resulted in turnig Germany into a zionist colony with jews crawling into Germany from all over to suck her dry once more.Apparently jews do not see the need to buy toilet paper in Germany as their collective asses are being licked clean by the Germans. And you think that does not qualify as Israel friendly.

Anti semitism,a misnomer if there ever was one.Anti zionism is the correct description of sentiments that disagree and are against the ideaology ,methods, actions, and philosophy of zionists who are mostly jews. Anyone who has been following the behaviour, actions, deceit, lies, and cruelties of this group cannot help but be anti zionist, unless they are brainles and heartles.

Luckily for Canada she's out of Canada and screwing the world over in order to excuse her fascist friends - but, Canada did sign on with the whole International Criminal Court thing under Chretien's regime - so if members of the Canadian Forces kill any of Louise's fascist friends in Afstan - they could find themselves facing a criminal trial in Europe someday. Louise would probably make an example of them too, just to prove her righteous credentials.
