Just a waste of money - since the Chinese, the Indians, the Brazilians, and the Koreans won't be reducing their emissions. We're going to just piss money down the toilet. For nothing.GayandRighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08763498369390166108noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11578122.post-1170847710679942252007-02-07T06:28:00.000-05:002007-02-07T06:28:00.000-05:001. Because those problems are much harder to solve...1. Because those problems are much harder to solve, they dont get as much recognition. They do need to be dealt with. Also, it conflicts with another noble goal, eliminating poverty - the standard approach to this is to industralise poorer countries and improve their economy.

2. Nuclear power is becoming more popular, even with the environmental groups who are traditionally opposed to it.

3. Politics. Not as bad in Canada as it is in the US, but still a factor.

4. In the long term, adaption is the only option. But spending some on reducing emmisions will at least buy time, and reduce the severity of the problem.Suricou Ravenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00322441818160817387noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11578122.post-1170814101796599012007-02-06T21:08:00.000-05:002007-02-06T21:08:00.000-05:00Harper's days are severely numbered. He's going to ...Harper's days are severely numbered.

He's going to be in power another 666 days?

Hey TTVC, you didn't answer any of Fred's points at all.

(I do not believe that Harper's conversion to environmentalism has anything to so with Iran as you seem to imply.)Thermbloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01219903189248781710noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11578122.post-1170791924268099362007-02-06T14:58:00.000-05:002007-02-06T14:58:00.000-05:00I loved your 4th point.I loved your 4th point.David MacLeanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14399771007329988126noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11578122.post-1170787086255040702007-02-06T13:38:00.000-05:002007-02-06T13:38:00.000-05:00Garth Turner's announcment, today, that he is goin...Garth Turner's announcment, today, that he is going to join the Liberal Party of Canada's parliamentary caucus is further proof about how dangerous the Harper government is on the issues of the environment.

Turner will help to bring needed support to Monsieur Dion's team Liberal. Turner's turning to the Liberals will help to seal the fact that they are the next government of Canada; its only a matter of time till the next election.

Harper's days are severely numbered.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11578122.post-1170768996044229552007-02-06T08:36:00.000-05:002007-02-06T08:36:00.000-05:00"Monsieur Stephane Dion has shown leadership on Ky..."Monsieur Stephane Dion has shown leadership on Kyoto, combatting Global Warming and Climate Change."

The old adage is true, "DON'T DO DRUGS"Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11578122.post-1170747761253480822007-02-06T02:42:00.000-05:002007-02-06T02:42:00.000-05:001. "No snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible." -Stanisław Jerzy Lec

We must do our part, and do our best to help (if not make) others do their part to ensure both our and their survival.

2. Nuclear power is good. Even dams, which destroy ecosystems, are better than fossil fuels (they're not going to kill us as quickly). There's also wave power, wind power, biomass burning via fermentation, tidal power, geothermal power, and the classic solar power. Not so much hydrogen IMHO.

Any of these things will keep us humans from dying as quickly.

You say nuclear power is the only answer, which might be true for cities, but the self-sustaining house is the ultimate answer, both economically and environmentally.

3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Environmental_organizations_based_in_Canada

If you don't know about any groups, it is only, ONLY, ONLY because you haven't even looked for them. Google would be a good place to start. But why you would think that every concerned citizen in Canada would start their own environmental group when he or she became concerned is beyond my logic.

Canadians already know what they need to do for the environment; the planning has already been shown to us. Use greener cars, ask your energy company for greener power (like we have from SaskPower here in Saskatchewan), reduce, reuse, recycle... You know where this is going.

4. NO!!! If an animal was going to bite you, would you shoot it in the head, or get some Band-Aids ready?

The answer is we shoot it, but prepare for the consequences should we miss.Jessehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05211676088224313938noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11578122.post-1170741640134013072007-02-06T01:00:00.000-05:002007-02-06T01:00:00.000-05:00Oh no its much worse than we thought our impact is...Oh no its much worse than we thought our impact is not just here on Earth but..."Martian snow turns out to be rock hard.
