You really have to wonder where people get the energy for this crap...

The PC Police have struck again, and the latest victim is Stonehill College in nearby Easton [Massachusetts].

On May 4, the college announced that "Skyhawks" would replace "Chieftains" as the nickname for all 20 of its athletic teams beginning next season. The school's board of trustees had already deep-sixed the `` Chieftains'' nickname under pressure from the NCAA, which has, in turn, been prodded by Native American special-interest groups to discourage the use of nicknames that supposedly disparage their culture.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Hogwash!

There is nothing about the word "Chieftains," or what it represents, that disparages Native Americans -- who, in a lot of instances, don't seem at all reluctant to call upon similar stereotypes when they're trying to promote the casinos they run with the intent of separating the rest of us from our wampum.
