Ontario becoming a 'mecca' for gay marriage?

Conservative critic Vic Toews is upset. About 1,000 US gay and lesbian couple have come to Canada to wed, and he wants that to stop. "My concern is we're being used as the Las Vegas of the north by the gay community," Mr Toews said. "This simply should not be."

I think the opposite. Gay marriage is an incredible opportunity to increase tourism to Ontario and to Canada. Our tourist agencies should promote this with a passion! Gay marriage gives us a cachet in the tourism market that the Americans can't compete with.

Hurrah!

Mr. Toews is yet another reason why the conservatives make me nervous.
