It's about time..

Finally, they are going to take away David Ahenakew's Order of Canada.

Disgraced former aboriginal leader David Ahenakew will be stripped of his membership in the prestigious Order of Canada, reports The Globe and Mail.

The news comes as Ahenakew, 71, awaits a verdict in a high-profile hate crime trial in Saskatoon, Sask.

Ahenakew is fighting a charge in court that he was willfully promoting hate against an identifiable group, when on Dec. 13, 2002 during an interview, he praised Adolf Hitler for the Holocaust and said Jews were a "disease".

I also believe that he should not face trial - largely because I don't like the category of 'hate crimes'.
