The UN just keeps on sinking...

THE UN was rocked by new corruption charges yesterday when the head of its powerful budget oversight committee was arrested for allegedly taking hundreds of thousands of dollars in kickbacks.

Vladimir Kuznetsov was the second Russian UN official to be charged with money laundering in the past month as US federal prosecutors seek to “wring the towel dry” of corruption at the world body.

Mr Kuznetsov, a former diplomat elected to his UN post by the General Assembly, was accused of conspiring with the other Russian, Alexander Yakovlev, a key figure in the Iraq Oil-for-Food scandal who pleaded guilty last month.
