Paying child support for somebody else's kid....
Sometimes, men are seen only as walking wallets.
Doug Richardson was 19 years old when he learned his girlfriend was pregnant. He married the woman, and a baby boy was on the way. Richardson says he and his new wife named the boy after him Douglas Richardson Jr.
Soon the marriage crumbled, and after a lengthy divorce Richardson found himself paying child support for the little boy. However, Richardson soon discovered he and the little boy were not even biologically related.
Richardson has been forking over tens of thousands of dollars in child support for more than a decade now despite a DNA test confirming he and the boy are not even blood-related.
For years Richardson has had no visitation with the boy, but he is still paying for him and now, he wants all of his money back. The court recognizes Doug Richardson is not blood related to the boy he is financially supporting, but old Michigan case law looks towards the best interest of the child. The judge in the case ruled Richardson should still be obligated to help pay for the child. And now some of the financial support is going directly to the kid's biological father, who has been involved in raising the boy
