Gay unions coming to Ireland...

This is indeed promising..particularly the fact that younger voters are more in favour.
By the slimmest of majorities Irish voters support marriage rights for gay and lesbian couples a new poll has found.

Fifty-one percent said they were in favor of giving legal status to gay couples. On the issue of adoption by same-sex couples the public was equally divided.

The survey was conducted by the Irish Examiner.

The poll found that while acceptance of gays was strongest among younger people and the more affluent, one-in-six respondents still said they thought homosexuality was wrong.

I thought rights shouldn't be decided by a vote..

Would you agree to be quiet about gay marriage if 90% of people were opposed??
