Canada to continue funding Hamas - SHAME!
They talk tough at times, but in the end, have no principles. This is a shameful decision.
Canada will continue to provide some aid to the Palestinian Authority on the basis of third-party assurances from Russia that the money will not be diverted for military purposes or to finance terrorism by Hamas.Who cares whether it is audited? The idea is to put pressure on Hamas, and on the Palestinians, to change their genocidal intentions towards Israel.
The announcement yesterday by Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay was a softening of the new government's previous position. Prime Minister Stephen Harper threatened last month to cut off aid after Hamas, considered by Ottawa to be a terrorist organization, won a majority in the Palestinian parliamentary election in January.
But Mr. MacKay said "some Canadian aid will continue" to the Palestinian Authority after he received an encouraging report from his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, who said that Hamas will allow foreign aid programs to be audited.

Absolutely appalling and thoroughly disgusting move by Mackay. Fundraising for Hamas is banned in Canada because they are seen as a terrorist organization, yet we are going to continue to send them money on a governemnt to government basis because Russia says they're OK? I am sickened.
It is inconceivable that any legitimate neo-conservative can continue to support the terrorists-friendly Harper government after it renegade on its commitment not to protect and promote more terrorism by funding the pathetically sick terrorists.
Canadians can be prosecuted for offering comfort and funds to despicable terrorists animals; however, Harper and McKay sympathize with these freaks and welcome them with Canadian tax dollars!

I am left wondering if this softness is more about the CPC only having a minority government or whether their march to be more center resulted in this?
Fred, you may have blogged on this somewhere already but could you clarify this: when Israel said that they will not be handing over any more money to Palestine is this money that Israel donated to them, jointly shares with them but they are the collectors/distributers of these monies or, as someone told me, just the collectors of this money which really belongs to Palestine?
It seems this person heard something on CBC radio a few weeks ago and the impression they were left with was that Israel is withholding money that belongs to Palestine, they were only collecting it for them.
Good to see people in the gay community supporting Israel.
