Gay Pride and Families...

It's time to make Gay Pride parades family-oriented.
Organizers and participants of gay pride festivals and parades in Canada say they're struggling to stage inclusive events that will be appropriate for families without censoring outrageous behaviour.

Over the weekend, organizers from across the country discussed the issue at the InterPride conference.

Bob Fougere, a gay parent from Halifax, said during a panel discussion on Sunday that his teenage grandson refuses to attend gay pride parades because some of the nudity makes him uncomfortable.
I love gay pride parades myself...but I could do without the nudity, to be honest...much as I like cute guys.

Yeah, really. What the heck does 1)Taking your clothes off or 2) dressing in drag have to do with being proud to be gay? I'm sorry, I just don't see the connection. Wouldn't it make more sense and get people more accepting of gays if they just marched with signs and music?

Am I making sense here or what?

I agree with Dante and jw. Why do the parades have to feature nude men and lacivious gestures etc? If gays truly want to be accepted, they need to practice acceptable public behaviour.
How can the gay parades be suitable for families and little kids with all that going on?
