I wonder how often this happens in Canada....
This is from the Telegraph in the UK.
A man about to stand trial for terrorist offences was able to remain in Britain despite serving a prison sentence for armed robbery, it emerged last night.
Because of the seriousness of the offence the man should have been considered for deportation on his release in 1998.
The case will add to the pressure on Charles Clarke, the Home Secretary, over mismanagement of foreigners in the prison system.
The Tories suggested the case was "as bad as it could be."
It will also generate further embarrassment for the Government because the suspect was granted British citizenship two years ago, despite his criminal record.
