Israeli director warned not to attend festival...

This is really disgusting...shame on the organizers.
Israeli director Yoav Shamir said Thursday he has been advised by organizers of the Edinburgh film festival in Scotland not to attend the screening of his new work due to Israel's offensive in Lebanon.

Shamir's previous films include the critically acclaimed documentary "Checkpoint," which showed the daily travails facing Palestinians at crossings in occupied territory interspersed with interviews with Israeli military personnel.

In an email seen by Reuters, Shamir was informed by the organizers that due to expected protests over Israel's attacks on Lebanon, "it might be in your best interest not to attend the festival this year for your own sake, rather than for ours."

With the official wording of the warning, the Edinburgh Film Festival is worried about the Israeli's safety and well being, and not about anything sinister.

BTW, isn't it up to a private organization to welcome whoever it wants, and not welcome others for whatever reason it deems proper?

This form of Islam by-proxy is what's going on in canada , people aren't forced to do something but the Islamists create such a hostile risk for not doing it that
avoiding an event is better than the harm for going.

Abusers use this tactic , a fear of doing something like getting away from the harm or speaking up to denouce it is so great that going along with the abuser causes less trouble.
The saudi's impose Shariah on foreigners during sports events or the Olympics by forces other nation to ban certain Rights when Muslims are present.

If the film were pro-Israel, then the organizers might have a valid concern his safety and for suggesting he stay home -- but the fact that the film is critical of the Israeli government and he still is being asked to stay home, means that the protesters won't be protesting his film -- they will be protesting him because he is an Israel Jew.

You don't find anything wrong with that?

Of course the wording would not say "we don't want you here." If it did, they would be construed as anti-Israel, if not slightly anti-semetic. My political sympathies are very far left and I would hope no one on the left finds this from EFF any less than repulsive.
