Where's the pressure to release the Israeli hostages?

The UN Security Council resolution called for the unconditional release of the Israeli hostages? I'll keep asking....why isn't there international pressure for Lebanon to act? Where is Kofi Annan?

Where is Israel's financial compensation to the innocent non-Hezvollah citizens who were killed and who's homes were destroyed?

Why has your soon to be defeated prime minister pledged $25 million tax dollars (paid by you and me) to compensate the innocent victims of Israels 'over the top' and 'gone postal' reaction to Shite terrorists in a primarily Sunni nation?

Harper (and your) ongoing belief that Israel's response was measured will result in the defeat of the conservative party at the first chance Canadians will have to put you nutbar, right wing extremists back into the opposition benches.

Leftdog, your hatred of Israel is clouding the issue Fred raises, which is where are the hostages and why isn't the international community insisting that Hezbollah turn them over, pronto?

NO! Hezbollah committed an UNFORGIVABLE act by seizing those 2 soldiers. BUT you don't invade, kill a thousand civilians (mothers, infants, grandmothers) displace over 1,000,000 people, destroy over 60,000 homes and THEN SAY IT IS JUSTIFIED BECAUSE HEZBOLLAH STARTED IT! That is insane. That is war crimes and those who defend it are racist towards lebanese civilians. INSANE! UNFORGIVEABLE! The owner of this blog needs a kick in the ass!

Imagine for a minute that at one time in Canadian history the following happened.
An FLQ cell from Quebec crossed over the US border into the state of New York and seized 2 American soldiers or border guards and took them hostage back into Quebec. The US Military then invaded Quebec. Montreal was bombed, the US DEMANDED the release of the 2 but the FLQ would not. About 1,000 non FLQ civilians were killed, 1,000,000 Quebecers fled their homes, 60,000 houses and apartments were blown up.

That is exactly what happened in Lebanon, all I did was change the terrorist group, the country that was invaded and the country that did the invading.

I repeat, harper has ALREADY lost the next election for taking the ideological view that what Israel did was 'measured'. INSANE!!!

If Israel took out the whole Lebanese state and Syria in pursuit of the release of the 2 soldiers it would be completely justified in the eyes of every soldier in every army on Earth. The Lebanese are complicit in the actions of Hezbn'allah and deserve more than Israel had the nerve to administer. The U.N. is complicit in that it is protecting a terrorist organization from the righteous actions of a sovereign nation. The Security Council should have demanded the release of the 3 soldiers before any cease fire prposals were discussed.

"The Lebanese are complicit in the actions of Hezbn'allah" - NONSENSE, what is your proof that every infant baby child in Lebanaon and every grandmother in Lebanon was 'complicit'? That is absolute racism. You hate them for who they are. You and the owner of this site are warmongers who are trying to jusify the killing of 2 year old girls and 90 year old grandmothers. INSANE!!! If you believe in a god of some sort, you are in BIG trouble!

Leftdog diverts from the topic of the post - and that is the fact that Lebanon is in violation of the UN Security Council Resolution that it just accepted. There can be no justification for keeping the two Israeli soldiers as hostages.

If you care so much about calming the situation, why don't you put up a notice on your blog calling for Lebanon to unconditionally release the Israeli hostages?

Yes I will, if you put up a notice telling Israel to stop killing infants, 2 year old girls, 89 year old grandmothers. Tell me why you hate these people so much. They have nothing. They struggle just to survive. Thousands and thousands of them live in the most utter poverty. Where does your hatred of them come from? Is it their religions (remember there are Christians, Sunni and Shite). Where does your cold cold cold cold cold heart come from? It is insane. It is tragic if fact.
In the bible it cautions against those who would hurt a child. Jesus said that it would be better to have a millstone placed around your neck and to be cast into the middle of the sea then to harm an innocent child. Where does the ice in your worldview come from?

(now being a true rightwinger you will respond with something about Hezbollah hiding behind civilians - Which I join you in condeming totally). It still does not answer the question of why you hate these unfortunate innocent civilians SO much)

Leftdog: Once again you skirt the issue. I challenged you to post a message saying that the Lebanese should unconditionally release the hostages, and you just plain refuse.

Case closed.

The plain fact of the matter is that you have no wish to have the hostages released.

“In detailed questionnaires it has been determined that an individuals political views - broadly, how 'left-wing' or ‘right-wing’ they are - correlate with their capacity for empathy. It could therefore be argued that possessing a ‘right-wing’ perspective in one’s views is indicative of an underdeveloped sense of humanity and a predisposition for psychopathy.”

Leftdog: Can you just stay on the topic? I'd be happy to debate all these other issues....but I prefer one topic at a time.

I'll repeat: You have no desire for the Lebanese to release the Israeli hostages.

A few posts back I said,"Hezbollah committed an UNFORGIVABLE act by seizing those 2 soldiers." I stand by that.

BUT NOW WE GET TO THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE WHICH IS THAT ISRAEL WENT COMPLETELY OVER THE TOP IN ITS REACTION AND AS A RESULT MANY MANY INNOCENT BABIES, CHILDREN, GRANDMOTHERS and other innocent people were killed - and you are defending that. Shame I say.

And you keep referring to 'the Lebanese'. To whom are you referring: Christian Lebanese in the north? Sunni Lebanese in Beirut and the middle of the nation? Shite Lebanese in the south (this is the area from which springs Hezbollah). Exactly who do you mean when you talk about 'the lebanese will not release the hostage soldiers'.

Your view of 'the Lebanese' seems uninformed and uneducated. It is a generalization that goes hand in hand with a view that has no problem with the death of innocent children.

Leftdog: This is becoming almost amusing.

My challenge to you was simple:

If you care so much about calming the situation, why don't you put up a notice on your blog calling for Lebanon to unconditionally release the Israeli hostages?

You just won't do it! You continually try to change the subject.....but, why on earth won't you put up that simple sentence on your blog?

Because - 'Lebanon' does not have the 2 Israeli hostages - how can 'Lebanon' free them if 'Lebanon' does not have them. See you are so ignorant of what is going on it is almost embrarrasing watch you hurt yourself with your keyboard.

I repeat, you want me to say that 'Lebanon' should free them ???? huh? don't you more accurately mean that you want Hezbollah terrorists to free them? The reason you can live with the death of innocent children is because in your simplistic mind you don't even know who his holding the hostages.

Just because you have a computer and a blog does not mean that you can walk and chew gum politically.

Unbelievable!

Let me repeat for you - 'LEBANON' DOES NOT HAVE THE HOSTAGES - 'LEBANON' CANNOT FREE PEOPLE THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE.

Ok let us clarify. Why not post on your site asking Lebanon to ask for the release of whoever has the hostages.

As with my fellow conservatives any group that hides amongst the population deserves the contempt it recieves. It amazes me that the population cannot simply tell these thugs to get the hell out of my house, school, hospital etc. What would hezballoh do? Shoot them? I bet that would go over good with the civilians that are being forced to act as human shields.

Leftdog is showing his stripes. The plain fact of the matter is that the Lebanese government accepted the UN Security Council resolution - so, they are responsible for ensuring the unconditional release of the Israeli hostages.

The fact that leftdog is always coming up with excuses why he cannot call for the release of the israeli hostages says quite a bit.

gay and right has shown his true colours. The plain fact of the matter is that Israel did not conduct a measured response to the kidnapping by Hezbollah and as a result:
-many innocent civilians were killed
-over 1 million people were displaced
-60,000 private residences were killed

Gayandright defends this as appropriate response, or how did Harper refer to it .... oh yes.. 'a measured' response.

Canadian right wingers do not know the diffenence between a 2 year old little girl civilian and a Hezbollah terrorist (so KILL them both) and now that I have caught you publically in what I can only assume is hatred of non-Israeli middle easters, you play games.

In fact, even today's editorial in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz challenges your beliefs:

And because you will likely NOT go and read it to get some actual FACTS for your arguments, here is an excerpt of what the Editorial in todays Israeli newspaper Haaretz has to say:

“Israel has always chosen the Right's approach, through armament, settlement, and hunkering down behind a wall, clinging to the territories and their residents though brutal military force and taking pleasure in the graces of a failed and ephemeral American administration. Nothing endangers Israel's existence more than this approach”

“It is amazing to see how a failed and dangerous approach, which only makes things worse for Israel, wins increasing popularity after a war that proved just how ineffective that approach has become.”

“We have been trying the right's way for nearly 60 years. Its results are written in blood and horror. Isn't this the time, if only once, and terribly belatedly, to try the alternative we never tried?”

I guess Leftdog just can't stay on topic.

It's clear that Leftdog WON'T Call on the Lebanese to release the Israeli hostages.

One can only wonder why.

Readers of this blog - note yet again, how the illiterate owner of this blog is calling for 'the Lebaneses' to release the hostages.

I rest my case.

Uninformed opinion DOES NOT EQUAL informed opinion. This poor soul is pontificating on the internet and he doesn't even have a clue ...... 'The Lebanese' ... sheeeeeesh!
