Palestinian refugees who have been kept in camps for over 50 years still cannot be resettled.
The Lebanese government suspended discussions Thursday on a controversial proposal for the establishment of a Palestinian Embassy in Beirut, after a heated debate and a request for postponement by the foreign minister. Some Lebanese politicians, including President Emile Lahoud, have expressed their fear that the establishment of an embassy would pave the way for permanent settlement of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.
