Some things remain the same.....
Everybody is getting caught up in the hoopla with the democrats gaining control of the House and it looks like they will gain control of the Senate too. There's an awful lot of talk about a new direction for Iraq...but nobody can say what that is. I really wish the Democrats had some ideas. The plain fact of the matter is that the United States just cannot pull out of Iraq, the war against terror (or should I say the war against Jihad) must continue, Iran is still a menace, etc.
It's nice that there will be more oversight of the Bush Administration...and I'm delighted that Rumsfeld has quit....but who on the Democrats are going to start showing some real leadership? Certainly not from Nancy Pelosi? Certainly not from Harry Reid. So, who?

No other way to get rid of Rummy without looking like they're throwing him overboard, I suppose, but those topics are probably dealt with by the experts on such things. Chomsky should be chiming in any day now ...
