A muslim gang in Ottawa???

Fourteen people, including 10 known gang members, have been arrested and face multiple charges after a massive two-week operation by Ottawa Police.

In a targeted street sweep dubbed "Project E-Z Off," the Ottawa Police Guns and Gangs Unit said it nabbed 10 known members of the Bloods and Crips street gangs.

"We're cleaning up the street," said Acting Staff Sgt. Uday Jaswal. "It was a very co-ordinated effort. We basically had four teams of officers that went after targets that were identified internally within the Guns and Gangs Unit for activity in narcotics and weapons."

Search warrants were executed on two different residences, one in the Byward market area and another in the city's south end. Police seized $45,000 in cash, a large quantity of drugs including crack, cocaine and marijuana, and crime-related property including three vehicles, several cellphones and BlackBerrys.

"Unfortunately we didn't get any guns," said Jaswal. "We hope some of the information we gathered in this operation will lead to further charges, both against these individuals and others we uncover in their networks."

To date, a total of 35 charges have been laid against the 14 suspects, ranging from drug possession to possession for the purpose of trafficking, to possession of proceeds from crime and obstructing police.

And, here are the names of the accused:

Those arrested on drug-related offences include: Abdulla Rehman Saleh-Ali, 23, of Calgary; Aden (Shukri) Aden, 26; Leban Abdi Mahamud, 27; Liban Abdi Mohamed, 25; Nadia Yakonzi Ngoto, 20; Jamal Shukri, 19; Ali Al-Mezel, 18; Kaiser Muffareh, 23; Nawef Al-Shamari, 20; Ali Abdulla Saleh, 18; and Jean Frantzy, 23, all of Ottawa.

Also arrested on a variety of other charges are Mohamed Al-Mezel, 20; Djilani Mohamoud, 25; and Lawrence Kurlan, 20, also of Ottawa.
