I missed this one last week...
The heaviest snowfall in more than a decade has left at least 21 people dead in Iran - some buried under avalanches, some frozen to death and others killed in traffic accidents, state media reported Monday.
As much as 22 inches of snow has fallen in areas of northern and central Iran since Saturday, said meteorologist Ali Abedini. The storm has forced schools and government offices to close, blocking major roads and leading to the cancellation of all domestic and international flights.
"At least 21 people have been killed and 88 others injured ... as a result of heavy snow," state-run radio reported. "Some died of the severe cold, some were buried under avalanches and others died after their cars overturned on snow-covered roads."

Somehow I doubt you would have "missed" it if had been found that the net antarctic ice mass was growing.

But some scientists remain unconvinced. Oregon state climatologist George Taylor noted that sea ice in some areas of Antarctica is expanding and part of the region is getting colder, despite computer models that would predict otherwise.
Over the last 15 years, the glacier front has advanced seawards at a rate of 3 km/year, so the calving of a 20 km-wide iceberg has simply shifted the glacier front back close to where it was after the last calving event in 2001.
Etc etc.

George Taylor can "remain unconvinced" all he wants. Unless he's going to publish a study backing up his conviction, it doesn't mean squat.
Well Len, it's about truth, not your side vs. my side. I don't claim that there is no global warming; I don't know. What I do know is that the issue has become highly politicised and the proposed solutions are ridiculous and so I am suspicious.
It matters not how many lefty news outlets mention Ringot's findings. Both sides are looking for slam-dunk data and hype whatever supports their view. Your side has the advantage of having the most adherents. I don't have a side other than to keep everyone on the straight and narrow.

Absolutely. And those truths are arrived at via studies which are disseminated in journals and, if they're of public interest, reported in the media.
