Shame on the UN Secretary-General...

Here is Ban Ki-Moon's statement on Fitna...
I condemn, in the strongest terms, the airing of Geert Wilders’ offensively anti-Islamic film. There is no justification for hate speech or incitement to violence. The right of free expression is not at stake here. I acknowledge the efforts of the Government of the Netherlands to stop the broadcast of this film, and appeal for calm to those understandably offended by it. Freedom must always be accompanied by social responsibility.

The United Nations is the centre of the world’s efforts to advance mutual respect, understanding and dialogue. We must also recognize that the real fault line is not between Muslim and Western societies, as some would have us believe, but between small minorities of extremists on different sides with a vested interest in stirring hostility and conflict.
I guess he doesn't understand the concept of free speech.....and he clearly doesn't understand what comprises hate speech.....and he clearly doesn't understand the nature of what we are fighting against....sigh...he's just clueless, no?

It is difficult to know how to respond to such utter garbage from the UN Secretary General !

* the film is not anti-Islamic. It is actually quite dull , and merely lists facts and correlates many terrorist actions to those sanctioned by the Koran.

* It is not hate speech and is not a call to incite violence. On the other hand it does highlight the Koran's call to incite violence.

* The right to freedom of speech is at stake. Islamic fundamentalists want to suppress any discussion of Islamic violence.

... 3 out of 3 wrong ... typical of the UN.

so..anonymous..you believe in the supremecy of the Islamofascists who feel they can murder at will in the name of their religion?

Would you not agree that the images contained in the video are horrific, and the foul words uttered by the Imans outrageous?

Would you not agree they hoist themselves on their own petards?

And if you are in agreement with such thoughts, perhaps a fundamentalist Islamic country would better suit you in terms of residence...get the drift?

The term "social responsibility" is code... code for suppression of rights from speech to movement. It is the underpinning for the correctnesses and orthodoxies of the day -- political, environmental, whatever. It's the underpinning for authoritarianism.

And, guess who gets to determine the meaning of "social responsibility"? And "socially irresponsible"? It seems the time is approaching when we will not be able to ask those questions without grave risk.

We should give this matter some thought before we sleep tonight.
