Why on earth are they spending money prosecuting Brigitte Bardot....you'd think they have enough real problems to work on...
French former film star Brigitte Bardot went on trial on Tuesday for insulting Muslims, the fifth time she has faced the charge of "inciting racial hatred" over her controversial remarks about Islam and its followers.
Prosecutors asked that the Paris court hand the 73-year-old former sex symbol a two-month suspended prison sentence and fine her 15,000 euros (12,071 pounds) for saying the Muslim community was "destroying our country and imposing its acts".
Since retiring from the film industry in the 1970s, Bardot has become a prominent animal rights activist but she has also courted controversy by denouncing Muslim traditions and immigration from predominantly Muslim countries.
She has been fined four times for inciting racial hatred since 1997, at first 1,500 euros and most recently 5,000.

Brigitte is just "speaking truth to power". Messing with The Man is expensive in France, eh?
Of course she's a little bit wrong, its not the Muslims that are the problem, its the insane French bureaucracy letting a couple hundred Muslim fruitbats set the agenda.
Still, she's standing up for Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité and getting pasted for it by The Establishment. What the hell, she's an old lady, cut her some slack for being a little wrong.
I was reading about my alma mater the other day, McMaster U. It develops that much like in France, the same Marxist/Leninist fools we used to throw stuff at in front of the book store are now running the place. And just like France, they have no interest in freedom of speech.
Well, unless its freedom for Palestinian terrorist groups to raise money on campus and punch out the Jewish kids. That's ok.

They may have voted in Sarkozy which can give us all a bit of respite.

the only people who find her comments controversial are the Muslims who run the supposedly anti-racism NGO who sued her...it's not a new book

Then this means that if you oppose the Islamization of France you're a bad person? I guess Charles 'The Hammer' Martel didn't get that memo.
Actually this is a little inacturate and in fact a little worse that it would appear here.
It seems as if this particular charge is for saying that the Halal or Islamic religious method of slaughtering sheep is inhumane and should be stopped as its already illegal in France.
For this she is charged with race hate crimes.
I think she should therefore also be charged with race hate crimes against Newfoundlanders for her opposition to the seal hunt as its an identical position culturally ethically and in every way. Mostly that both charges would be equally stupid and anti free speech.
