Here's what Hamas says...
This is from their chief spokesperson in Syria....
“After the ceasefire, if the Israelis pull out, maybe we will sign a one-year truce with them,” Mr Nassar said. “Maybe we will sign a truce and after that we will continue to liberate all the Palestinian lands, from the river to the sea, including the 1948 lands. Whomever feels sympathy for the Zionists about this, let them open their countries to them.
“There can be no accommodation with Israel. Anyone who signs such an accommodation is a traitor. Between us and the Zionists there is just the language of the gun.”

Fred - I just spoke the other day to a friend who had spent the holidays in Israel - who spoke of so many people there, Muslims, Jews and Christians, who wished for a lasting peace.
Do you feel that - all rhetoric aside - the decision of Sharon to walk away from the progress at Taba was a mistake? And do you see any purpose in a return to the discussions where Taba left off?
I am really not sure what you are talking about. Are you talking about Yassir Arafat walking away from the progress at Taba???
Do you think that Hamas wishes for a lasting peace. Well, they do as long as Israel is destroyed.
Israel has offered the Palestinians a land of their own twice...and have been turned down both times.

This whole mess between HAMAS and Israel is to derail attention from IRANS nuclear weapons, which they plan to use. When the Iranian government feels that nuclear progess is near the end; they will tell HAMAS to stop-pretend you care and fire no more. Let the Israelis leave the STRIP in full and we will take it from here.
This is my gut feeling.
