Woman kills man - out in two years with no supervision...

Could you imagine how long the sentence would have been had it been a man who committed the murder???
The tearful wife of a man stabbed to death asked an Ottawa court Wednesday if there was no justice for her dead husband after the young offender convicted of killing him was granted permission to live in the community with no direct supervision.

"Who is being punished in this system?" an emotional Betty Ann Charbonneau asked, wiping away tears with a tissue as she spoke. "It's not the criminal anymore. It's the innocent people. It doesn't seem just."

The now 20-year-old offender, who can't be identified because of provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in 2007 for stabbing 52-year-old mechanic Pierre Lapointe to death on June 26, 2006, outside his motorcycle shop on Albion Road. At the time of the stabbing, she was 17.

"After two years she is being released. She's already in society. Is that fair? Is that all a man's life is worth?" Charbonneau said.

"His life isn't even worth two years. What's just?"

Charbonneau said she did not understand why her family had to "bust our butts" to put her son through college, while her husband's convicted killer attended school at the taxpayer expense as part of her rehabilitation.

Charbonneau left the courtroom in tears, but returned a short time later after composing herself.

Ontario Court Justice Ann Alder, who granted the application to allow the remaining 10 months of the woman's three-year sentence to be changed from open custody to conditional supervision, said she was satisfied the offender posed no danger to the public.

The 17 year old should have been executed.

Of course it is another split arsed judge that granted this. Another liberal no doubt.

"Alder told Charbonneau she should take solace in thinking about how her husband, who was devoted to helping young people, would feel if he knew about the progress the offender had made."

..attempts to confirm this were not returned as said man is.. you know...dead..killed by this newly minted paragon of society.

In other news, person who killed parents throws himself upon the mercy of the court as he is an orphan..

Eventually, someone is going to get so fed up with this in-justice system that they're going to take the old-fashioned approach - because they sure aren't getting satisfaction from the courts.

Just out of curiosity, I wonder if the "wife" offed her husbands murderer, would she also get only 2 years??? Seems "just".
