The global Muslim population stands at 1.57 billion, meaning that nearly 1 in 4 people in the world practice Islam, according to a report Wednesday billed as the most comprehensive of its kind.
The Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life report provides a precise number for a population whose size has long has been subject to guesswork, with estimates ranging anywhere from 1 billion to 1.8 billion.
The project, three years in the making, also presents a portrait of the Muslim world that might surprise some. For instance, Germany has more Muslims than Lebanon, China has more Muslims than Syria, Russia has more Muslims than Jordan and Libya combined, and Ethiopia has nearly as many Muslims as Afghanistan.

It's an incremental proxy war through population demographics.
It's on purpose and not by coincidence.
Their governments can risk full out war so... put 2 and 2 together.
A person would have to be pretty naive to not of realized this as a an eventual possibility.

Please enlighten the world of the wonders of islam and all its gracious benefits?
If islam was the peace loving religion its touted to be I wouldn't be feeling the need to speak up.
Any "moderate" peace loving muslim would renounce much of the koran and all acts of violence or retaliatory terror.
What has happened is the "moderates" have done more to pacify our safe-guards and paved the way for more radicalists to stream in.
How many moderate muslim parents are in control of their radical youth?
What helped tame the the IRA in ireland?
The wives and families got fed up with all the nonsense and meaningless feuds and turned in their husbands in one way or another.
Unfortunately, with the way islam is structured and its fundamentals are used against women, I don't see the same possibility coming into place.
I'm counting on civility and sanity to develop through various moderatisms that sets the right example and promote enough positives to counter the negatives that these issues radiate.
