MALAYSIA'S government on Friday pushed to censure opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim for suggesting that its policies to promote multiracial unity were modeled on an Israeli election campaign.

The development is the latest challenge for Anwar, who is currently on trial for allegedly sodomizing a male former aide.

Anwar could be suspended from Parliament if lawmakers decide he made misleading statements by linking the government's widely publicized '1Malaysia' racial unity slogan to the 'One Israel' political alliance set up by former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak for 1999 elections.
