Recycling in Edmonton...

Here's a short clip from today's Ottawa Citizen:
Edmonton apartment residents might get a blast of the blues next time they lift the lid on their recycling bin. Motion sensors being mounted in about 400 blue bins will trigger a 30-second song by performer Hank Leonhardt telling people what material is acceptable. The battery-operating devices costs $10 each.
Gee, what next? Can't they just leave us alone?

One of my favourite subjects. I suggest they take candid camera pics of recylers as they deposit their items or fish for stuff to take home. Best of both worlds - catch those who recycle the wrong stuff and chase down the ones that recycle the recycle. lol Cheers. FernStAlbert

I predict that those blue bins will last less time than the 30 seconds it takes to run the message.

Our Sacred Garbage rituals are getting ridiculous. We should be kinder to the environment and just take out the garbage - but then government run 'recycling' empires wouldn't have been built and another reason would have to be found for massive taxation and spending.
