Canada moves a step in the right direction...

As usual, there were three resolutions passed by the UN Commission on Human Rights against Israel today. Canada abstained twice, and voted against one of the resolutions - the one on Israeli practices affecting the human rights of the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem

Normally, Canada has supported this resolution in the past..so this is indeed progress. Here is the Canadian position on the resolution:
Canada remains concerned about the human rights situation in the West Bank and Gaza. We expect both Israel and the Palestinian Authority to take measures to protect and promote human rights in the occupied territories. We have consistently called on Israel to comply fully with all its obligations under international law. However, the resolution "Israeli practices affecting the human rights of the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem" is one-sided, disconnected from the situation on the ground and unhelpful to constructive dialogue between the parties. It is therefore unacceptable to Canada. We oppose its adoption.
