How's this for an extremist?

Well, here's a story from the CBC. But, they get it all wrong. Elizabeth May is thinking of resigning from an animal rights group.
Dr. Jerry Vlasak of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society was recently arrested in Canada during protests at the East Coast seal hunt.

Vlasak opposes both the seal hunt and animal testing for medical research.

At an animal rights conference in 2003 he advocated extreme measures to stop testing. "I don't think you'd have to kill, assassinate, too many vivisectors before you would see a marked decrease in the amount of vivisection going on," he said.

At that same conference where he talked of taking human lives to save animals, Vlasak said radical anti-abortionists had the right strategy.
What I want to know if why Elizabeth May had to wait until now. Vlasek's statements were made in 2003, no?
