This can happen in Iran, but not Canada..

Today's National Post has an article about a pragmatist, Mohammed Bager Qalibaf, Iran's popular former national police chief, who has entered the Presidential race. He actually sounds like a reasonable guy....
As police chief, he set about improving the image of the force. Under his command women have joined the police for the first time.

"Gender will not be an issue in my future administration; competence is what matters," he said.
Competence? What a unique concept! Isn't competence and merit all that really matters?
