Vatican set to betray Taiwan...

I've blogged on this earlier, but more confirmation that the Vatican intends to dump Taiwan in order to establish diplomatic relations with China.

A papal delegation was in Beijing holding talks even as John Paul II died. The possibility of improving relations was raised unexpectedly immediately afterwards by Bishop Joseph Zen of Hong Kong, a Shanghai-born priest and a thorn in the Communist Party's side.

"The Holy See has been thinking of giving up Taiwan," he said. "This is a difficult [decision], but it has decided to do it. If the Holy See does not establish ties with China, Catholics there will not have real freedom."

Real freedom only comes with true belief - I don't see how giving up on Taiwan helps freedom.
