Hamas Re-affirms Rejection of Israel...
In today's National Post, Stewart Bell publishes an interview with Sami Abu Zahri, a Hamas spokesman. Here's an excerpt:
Q: The Hamas vision has always been one Palestine, from the Jordan River to the sea. Is that still the case or has Hamas modified its position?
A: We want all our rights. There's no problem [with a] step-by-step solution to the Israeli-Arab conflict. We can now accept Gaza and West Bank and in the future, all Palestine.
Q: So the peace process now is just one step towards achieving one Palestine. Are Jews allowed to live there or only Palestinians?
A: There is no peace process. There is only occupation. There is only aggression against Palestinians.
Q: If Hamas gets its way, what will Palestine look like 100 years from now? Will Israelis and Palestinians live cooperatively?
A: We don't know anything about the future. We will continue fighting our resistance against occupation until we free our land. International laws -- supportus to fight occupation.
Q: Hamas is against occupation, but what is it for?
A: End the occupation. I'm against the occupation and I'm for ending the occupation.
Q: But what is Hamas for?
A: Hamas wants to end the occupation and have all the Palestinians lands to be Palestinians and not to Israelis.
Q: All the lands?
A: Yes.
Q: So, no Israelis in Palestine?
A: We have rights and we accept to get these rights step-by-step. We will never recognize the occupation, and if Israelis want to live under the Palestinian Authority they are welcome.
