British attacks drive home the need to profile immigrants....
Political correctness has no place in a fight against terrorism.
London's bombings should be a splash of cold water in the faces of those who say concerns about unbridled immigration and radical Islam are racist. Maybe what Britain and the rest of Europe needs is a Patriot Act.Please read the whole thing...
As the U.S. obsesses over renewal of the Patriot Act, concerned that FBI swat teams might soon descend on our public libraries, and while we studiously avoid racial profiling at airports and elsewhere, devoting the same scrutiny to church ladies from Minnesota as we do to students from Yemen, the Europe that once lectured paranoid America about tolerance faces a homeland security crisis all its own.
London's pro-Islamist mayor, "Red" Ken Livingstone, rose to the occasion after the bombings, condemning the terrorists for killing the innocent. "Whatever you do, however many you kill, you will fail," he assured.
But the fact remains that in London, and in Europe, the terrorist groups that spawned these killers were invited house guests.
Livingstone recently welcomed Sheikh Yousef Al-Qaradhawi, the "Theologian of Terror" who has called suicide bombings "heroic operations of martyrdom" and "divine justice."
Livingstone defended him against charges of extremism while calling President Bush "the greatest threat to life on this planet," a view shared by many there and here, at least before Thursday morning.
Groups like Al Muhajiroun ("the immigrants"), which celebrated 9-11 as "A Towering Day in History" and whose leader has ties to Osama bin Laden, operated freely post-9-11. Its spokesman, Anjem Choudry, has proclaimed: "One day the black flag of Islam will be flying over Downing Street."
London played host to the infamous Finsbury Mosque. It served as spiritual home for shoe bomber Richard Reid and al-Qaida trainee Feroz Abassi, the man who allegedly plotted to blow up the U.S. Embassy in France. A belated police raid found the Finsbury Mosque stocked with chemical weapons gear, as if those in the mosque were planning to live through a chemical attack.
