Fraudulent claimant can still stay in the UK...
Gee, I can see this line of reasoning being used more and more often.
Britain was forced to suspend deportations to Zimbabwe last night after a failed asylum-seeker won the right not to be sent back.
The man had become a refugee only by making a fraudulent claim. But the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal found that, as a result of making his claim, he would be at risk if he were returned.
The implication must be that anyone could come to Britain from Zimbabwe, make an unsuccessful claim for asylum, and then remain here as a refugee until President Mugabe left office
