Freedom: The right to be stupid...
There was an interesting article in the Ottawa Citizen last Thursday about a cafe in New York that 'serves up truth about 9/11."
At Brooklyn's Vox Pop cafe, patrons can get a half-dozen flavours of coffee and a limited selection of sandwiches, but there's no limit on the number of conspiracy theories they'll hear about the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. That's what I love about our democracy - the right to be stupid is protected.
Along with food and drink, owners Sander Hicks and his wife Holley Anderson, are serving up democracy, as they see it, and when it domes to the destruction of the World Trade Center, it was an "inside job."
The internet abounds with conspiracy theories, but Vox Pop -- meaning Voice for the People -- has become a sort of "conspiracy central" in New York for people who want to sit across the table from one another and discuss how the terrorists were "framed."
Some, such as Mr. Hicks, suggest the US government knew the attack was coming, but allowed it to happen to acquire an esxcuse for going to war. Some believe it the CIA planted bombs in the World Trade Center to bring it down. Still others insist there was Israeli involvement.
