Martin just misses the point...

How does Paul Martin want to address violence in Toronto? Well, he wants tougher sentences for gun-related crime. This does not address the problem.
The federal government's plan has three parts:

• Tougher sentences for people convicted of gun crimes.

• Funding for community organizations who try to reduce guns and gang violence.

• More money for youth justice projects in Toronto, including two happening now.
What about looking at which immigrant groups integrate well into Canadian society and which don't. Let's have a firm look at the Jamaican community - perhaps a targeted approach might work better than a broad brush.

Not to mention that the Conservatives thought of tougher sentences for gun crimes long ago.

Martin's theft of Conservative Party Policy is outlined here.
