Better the Liberals than SSM?

Independent candidate John Pacheco is running in Ottawa West-Nepean and is trying to block a conservative candiate from winning because he supports SSM.
He feels so strongly, he says he'd rather see Liberal Lee Farnworth win than have John Baird and his support for same-sex marriage cause divisiveness within the Conservative party.

Pacheco wants to steal enough votes to prevent a Baird win.
I hope he's not successful. John Baird is an outstanding candidate in every way, and parliament would be a lot better with him in it.

But, the philosophy that we can't have a difference of opinion in the conservative party is frightening. Look, attitudes are changing. 25% of the delegates to the Conservative Party Policy conference voted in favour of same-sex marriage - as young conservatives come to the fore, this percentage will just increase. It's just a matter of time!

First off, Baird is a more moderate candidate who would support SSM if elected.

Second off, if you thought Paul Martin was a hypocrite over Iraq, I have found quotes that back that claim up:

I think the CPC would be better off without social liberals like Stronach, Brison and now Baird within its ranks.
