Couple goes to jail over Wendy's scam...
We blogged on this when the story first came out....here's the final outcome.
A California couple who planted a severed finger in a bowl of Wendy's chili in a plan to extort money from the food chain were sentenced to prison terms of nine and 12 years.
Anna Ayala, 40, who claimed she bit into the finger last March, got a nine-year sentence, while her husband, Jamie Plascencia, 44, was sentenced to 12 years.
"Greed and avarice overtook this couple," said Superior Court Judge Edward Davila during the sentencing in San Jose.
Ayala and Plascencia pleaded guilty in September on charges of conspiracy to file a false insurance claim and attempted grand theft with damages exceeding $2.5 million.
