Gee..a teacher has sex with an 11-year-old...
There's been a spate of headlines about female teachers having sex with under-age boys....now, it's an 11-year-old.
A former fifth-grade teacher accused of having sex with her 11-year-old student was ordered held on $100,000 bond Saturday.
Prosecutors had wanted Wendie A. Schweikert, 36, jailed without bond, saying she was a danger to the community and a flight risk.
Schweikert was arrested Friday on two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor after the boy's mother accused the teacher of having sex with him at school at least twice, authorities said.

Besides the obvious, another thing about these cases that is probably causing them not to be taken as seriously as they should be by society is how they are portrayed in the media. There is some weird notion that these women are mentally ill/ desperate/ insert other excuse here, or that it's somehow humourous (think of all the jokes Jay Leno's told about these cases) how often it is happening. It desensitizes people to the seriousness of the problem. It does not seem to be dealt with as seriously or treated as harshly as sexual abuse involving men.
11-years-old...I'd like her to explain how that could have remotely been consensual.
