Georgia tells students that parents must OK the clubs they join....
This is how far some people will go to discourage gay kids from finding friendly peers.
The Georgia House passed a bill Wednesday that would require students to notify their parents before joining school clubs, a measure that gay rights advocates say will discourage students from joining gay organizations.Shouldn't students be able to join clubs on their own? Is this something that the Government needs to be involved with?
The bill, approved 143-25, would also allow parents to block their children from joining clubs they do not approve of. A similar measure is pending in the Senate.
The House oversees schools and is obligated to help parents find out "what's going on with their children," said Republican Rep. Bobby Reese, the bill's sponsor.
The bill originally would have required schools to get written permission from parents for children to join clubs.
The legislation gained traction last February after students at White County High School tried to form a gay-straight alliance. The school board agreed to allow the club, but administrators recommended eliminating all extracurricular clubs.

If the parents were smart they would already know about the clubs... I would agree with it accept I know some parents out there are too ignorant to face such realities. They will go nuts and try to stop the kids. Like that can happen sheesh... Sry pretty tired today, tired of stupid parents.
Just accept your kids for you they are please!
Gay clubs in high schools are terribly biased.. they do NOT tell the truth about things like GID (gender identity disorder) and counsellng that is available.
They also do not tell the full truth about the dangers of gay/anal sex..
Labeling of children for anything is bad. Labeling a child as "gay" is terrible..
really bad stuff here about fisting etc:

FIGHT GLSEN!!!
I think that this is absolutely ridiculous. Sara said it perfectly above.
Maybe it's a good idea. I'd not want some kid of mine being lured onto a "youth bus" by some super-clean grinning happy-happy with promised of pizza and fun, only to find themselves sucked into some Christian "youth" group indoctrinating my child with beliefs he was not taught at home.
