Good for Peter MacKay!

One of the reasons why I vote Conservative.
Canada announced Wednesday that it was suspending assistance to the Palestinian Authority because the new Hamas-led government refuses to renounce violence and recognize Israel.

Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay said in a statement that Canada therefore had no choice but to suspend assistance to the authority and decline contact with the new Hamas Cabinet.

Canada is the first country after Israel to formally cut assistance to the Palestinian Authority and other nations were expected to follow suit. With Hamas now at the helm, the cash-strapped Palestinian government faces a crippling international economic boycott,

Previous Liberal Government had no contact wwith Hamas.

Harper is still sening 25$ million to the Palestinians.

Cut was 600K that was earmarked for a Justice Minister's Conference scheduled for December 2005 in Ottawa! The Conference was cancelled by Cotler because of the election. To now say that it is new policy is hypocritical.\!

Why are we sending 25million through UNWRA? So that they can continue to distribute textbooks that call for Israel to be wiped off the map??!!

HArper could do much better now that Hamas is the Government. The Liberals started making changes but were tempered by the fact that Fatah was at least, vocally, calling for peace.

There are no restraints on the Harper Government and they should be cutting all funding with the exception of food and medicine.
