Susan Riley's Feminist Rantings...
If you don't live in Ottawa, then you are spared of reading Susan Riley in the Ottawa Citizen. She's a die-hard feminist who buys every single feminist superstition, and her column today is no exception..
Yet many of these same politicians said nothing after this week's murder of a mother and her two children in Aurora, north of Toronto. The woman's estranged spouse has been charged. The brutal crime hasn't been ignored by the media, and various governments have made strides fighting what is rather clinically referred to as "domestic violence." The overall trend in spousal assault in Canada is down over the previous decade, too (although 22 people were killed by intimates in 2004, double the number killed the year before).Well, a couple of points:
But what is crucial, in terms of public policy, is that women are far more likely to be killed by a family member (59 per cent) than by a stranger (6 per cent). That is a "crime wave" that is not under-reported, exactly, but rarely the focus of impassioned national debate.
1. Very few spouses in Canada are killed...so calling it a crime wave is totally ridiculous.
2. Riley seems to be admitting women have a very low chance of being killed by a 'stranger'. Doesn't that mean that our streets our safe?
3. Why does she ignore the fact that men are murdered at a 3-4x rate that of women?

the fact that woman aren't killed by strangers means they're killed by men they know...it's called domestic abuse and it's a serious problem for many women, men kill other men at a far more impressive rate. this is of little consolation to the victims of domestic abuse. the truth is men murder far more than women in all cultures. maybe susan riley has something to rant about. signed-not a feminist or even a woman
I go red when I see Susan Rileys name...
Men do get killed and beat by men, but woman need to stand up for themselves at the same time.. not all situations can be helped by it but some can. If you have self esteem you can walk away from psycho's instead of running into their arms...
Fred I usually agree with your take on things but I have to side with anonymous on this one-- for one thing, Riley put "crime wave" in quotations, meaning that the majority of murdered women are murdered in a "wave" of domestic violence. And again I must agree with anon-- so what if men kill men more often than women? That's supposed to make women feel better? The point is that the vast vast majority of murders are committed by men period.

Riley's illogic on feminism issues is but one example of her silliness - her support of the gay agenda show similar illogic and silliness..
The gay agenda lobby has tons of poor thinkers like Riley..
