The Left Party has proposed abolishing homework for children up to the age of 16, saying that it wants to compensate for differences in pupils' backgrounds.I'd like to know what other proposals were included.
Scrapping homework is one of the proposals put forward in the party's program for 'equality at school', which was presented on Wednesday.

OK don't diss the Swedes because the eat reindeer meat (not often) and have a social-democratic government. They also have some of the best socio-economic indicators (GDP per capita, low crime, high rates of health) in the world, so they must be doing something right.
Sure, this proposal might be a bit extreme, but it's not entirely loopy. It is unfair that some students get so much more help with homework from parents than others, and this gives them an extra advantage at school. Maybe it's a bit much to ban homework, but they're at least thinking down progressive lines. They could, for example, have after-school homework clubs where all students do homework together, and if they need help could ask from a teacher, or from each other?
