Three members of an Asian gang were jailed for life yesterday for the "barbaric" and racially-motivated murder of a 15-year-old schoolboy.

Kriss Donald was killed because of the colour of his skin and because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, the court was told.

The teenager, described as loving and gentle, was abducted in daylight and his last words, as he was bundled into a stolen Mercedes were: "I'm only 15. What did I do?"

He did not know his attackers and was seized by chance while the gang was seeking revenge for an assault by white youths at a nightclub.

They stabbed the terrified boy 13 times, doused him in petrol and set him alight. His burned and scarred remains were found on the edge of the River Clyde, horrifying the multi-racial community of Pollokshields on the south side of Glasgow.

The gang leader, bodybuilder Imran Shahid, 29, and his henchmen - his brother Zeeshan "Crazy" Shahid, 28, and 27-year-old Mohammed Faisal "Becks" Mushtaq were found guilty of racially aggravated abduction and murder at the High Court in Edinburgh.
