Warming in the solar system...
We've blogged about climate change on other planets before...but, here's a short guide...
A National Geographic article this year noted that Habibullo Abdussamatov, the head of the Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory in St. Petersburg, Russia, says that Mars-warming data is evidence that global warming on Earth is being caused by changes in the sun.
From a 2002 report by MIT on Pluto: "The average surface temperature of the nitrogen ice on Pluto has increased slightly less than 2 degrees Celsius over the past 14 years." Since Pluto is moving away from the sun and continuing to warm, something doesn't fit into "solar constant" dismissal theories.
From Space.com, on Jupiter: "The latest images could provide evidence that Jupiter is in the midst of a global change that can modify temperatures by as much as 10 degrees Fahrenheit on different parts of the globe."
From MIT, 1998, on Triton (Neptune's moon): "At least since 1989, Triton has been undergoing a period of global warming.
"Percentage-wise, it's a very large increase," said James Elliot, professor of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences there and director of the Wallace Astrophysical Observatory.
So there is global warming on four other bodies in our solar system. Doesn't this point strongly to the sun or some cosmic force as the cause? In science, when did "skeptic" become such a bad word?

Well, maybe the first thing to ask as a good skeptic is are these data really valid? After all, as we have seen in the case of the ground observation stations here on Earth, there may be some irregularities, which GW soffers are currently jumping all over....
I am not an expert on climate or astronomy, but I am willing to bet that there is a much bigger and better set of observations about Earth's temperature than about Triton's. Hell, they don't even have ground observation stations on Triton (or did Bill Clinton order the CIA to cover it all up?)
How is it that the skeptics get all methodological about Earth climate data, but accept without question data from the other side of the solar system when it appears to support their views?
Yet one more illustration of why sicence-by-blog is a waste of time.

Yet one more illustration of why talking to an environmentalist is a waste of time.
No one is disputing global warming. The only thing constant about climate is change. It's the Al Gores and Leos that are trying to claim it is all manmade warming that is the problem, and the lunacy of their proposed solutions. Kyoto?
"No one is disputing global warming."
How about this:
"The earth hasn't warmed since 1998 - that was the peak year. Since then, we've had really cold winters in india, siberia, and look at what is happening in south america right now...record cold temperatures."
That's quoted from a blog called Gay and Right.
As I've said elsewhere, the problem with climate scoffers is that they don't have a consistent alternative view.
It's called debate. Not the settled science the moonbats keep claiming. Settled science is itself an oxymoron. There are irregularities which GW benefactors have always jumped all over. What are you going to do when the planet starts to cool?
" and the lunacy of their proposed solutions. Kyoto? "
"The earth hasn't warmed since 1998" That is your big proof that some people say that there is no global warming? That is funny r_a. You may notice that that says "since 1998." It does not say that there was no warming up until 1998.
