Why I hate the mainstream media...

Here's a report from Reuters which is totally ridiculous.
Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip has created the worst humanitarian crisis since the Israeli occupation began in 1967, aid and rights groups said on Thursday.
is that it? Is that what's behind the crisis??? Could it possibly be the failure of the Palestinians to build a better life for themselves? Or, why they always invest in bullets and bombs instead of infrastructure???

But get this quote:
"It's grossly disproportional," Geoffry Binder, an expert on international humanitarian law in London, told Reuters.

"What we're dealing with here is a few rockets coming from presumably one small corner of Gaza. And the response is the blockade and the destruction of hundreds of lives and the impoverishment of the whole area."
A few small rockets? Gee, over 2,500 rockets fired into Israel - all aimed at civilians??? What response would like the Israelis to take? One shudders at his possible answer.

Two reasons for this:
1. Western reporters working in the region have to be sympathetic to the Arab side as they're aware of the consequences if they don't, like kidnappings, murder, or their connections cut.
2. Western media organisations, through 'diversity' programs as well as straightforward left wing bias, are widely staffed by supporters or sympathisers of radical groups like Hezbollah and Hizb Ut-Tahir. Hence, Israel will always be portrayed unfairly, and Arab propaganda will continue to be broadcast without check; like the Hamas meeting during a blackout - with the curtains drawn. Or the Lebanese red Cross ambulance, etc.

Well that's Reuters, but why does the Ottawa Citizen get in the act?

They ran an AFP news story
http://tinyurl.com/3bhuga
with the usual AFP slant and with the headline:
Israel refuses 'to show any tolerance'
Israelis to keep hitting Gaza; Abbas open to truce

That does show some small bias or is it just me?

The original item
http://tinyurl.com/3e2qph
had the headline:
Israel vows more Gaza strikes after deadly blitz

The same day they had a pro-Israel editorial. I think those editorials are from head office and the staff responds by doctoring the news.

The indigenous Palestinians are firing rockets not at civilians, but at their own land, taken from them each and every year by American funded Israeli occupation forces.

You seem to forget that Israel didn't exist several decades ago, and at their current rate of expansion the indigenous people living there will be completely wiped out.

What would YOU do? Lay down and die as the tanks run over your houses?
This is a defeated people trying to keep their homes.

Silencer: What do you mean by: The indigenous Palestinians are firing rockets ... at their own land, taken from them each and every year ....

Is the land taken and retaken every year or do they keep taking more? Either answer is contrary to fact. When I first decided to understand the issue over there, I noticed that the rhetoric of the "pro-Palestinians"* consisted largely of patently obvious lies and laughable descriptions. That made me doubt the rest of the narrative.

You also seem to forget that Palestine never existed.

* I used quotes because the truth is that many other peoples have undergone real deprivation (the Palestinians haven't) and gone on to live productive lives. By supporting the ridiculous narrative fed the world by Arafat et al you are supporting their self-destructive behaviour.

'Proportional' - when Palesimians blow up buses or shoot children in their beds or students as schools - they don't worry about their victims being completely unarmed and defenceless, that's not very 'proportional' of them...

Hey Silencer, if you want to start the "taking their own land" theme, where do you think the Palestinians got the land in the first place, and what do you think caused the Jewish Diaspora? Who are the genuine indigenes of Israel?
