How's this for a traditional marriage???

Will supporters of traditional marriage support this???
A Saudi man in his 50s has announced that he refuses to annul his year-and-a half-long marriage to an eight-year-old girl, because he claims never to have done anything forbidden by Islamic law.

He said that Islamic law does not set a specific age for marriage, and that the Prophet Muhammad married 'Aisha when she was nine.
So, they were married when she was 6 and a half!

Actually a better question would be, will non traditionalist support this "marriage".

Speaking for myself whom I think of as one who supports traditional marriage, I don't support the "marriage" of any pre-pubesent child. I call it child abuse.

It's obvious Islam is not acceptable in the civilized world. We throw Mormons in jail for polygamy. Pedophiles should have their .....cut off.

Dear anonymous,

Mormons are not engaged in polygamy it is a break off sect of the main branch of mormonism called the fundamentalist latter day saint movement.

Well G&R I will answer your question when you answer mine. What do non-traditionalists think of this marriage?

Every religion has it's own idea of traditional, heck you could even say each individual has their own idea of traditional. I for one believe all organized religion to be cults....they hurt more then they help thats for sure. That being said I know great people from various religions who truly adhear to the "positive" sides of the teachings in each.

what i find funny is how even when a minority group gets it's way on an issue it can't help but continue to push it in the face of those who may have been cautious or careful in changing our traditions. from the How's this 4 traditional marriage, to the outrageous antics of gay pride parades, to lawsuits, human rights complaints & protests on the smallest things. On gay marraige it now is the law to push it in the face of those still wary only antagonizes them and they may eventually push back. I personally was quietly pro gay marriage but the ungrateful hounding of those who did not agree sickens me. people just live your lives, on social issues stop trying to have big brother brain wash everyone , let them be and they will let you be.

Joe: I don't consider myself a traditional or a non-traditional supporter of marriage. I am just a supporter of marriage.

The definitions of marriage have been changing for centuries. When I was growing up, my grandparents couldn't even fathom my and my siblings marrying anybody who wasn't Jewish. Now, my gay partner and I are welcomed into my sister's house and by all her relatives.

Class, property, religion, were all 'anchors' of marriage. Now, they aren't.

I posted this little piece on a muslim marriage to show 1) how ridiculous the muslims can be, and 2) how something 'traditional' can also be dangerous and wrong.

Well Fred I don't consider "marriage" an excuse to engage in pedophilia no matter what claims the adult participant might claim.

However I have noticed the lessening of the safeguards built into 'traditional' marriage because people seek to re-define marriage in non-traditional ways to suit their own sexual desires and or perversions.

Joe: What on earth are you talking about?

1. Who considers marriage an excuse for pedophilia? Well, the muslims I guess.

2. "However I have noticed the lessening of the safeguards built into 'traditional' marriage because people seek to re-define marriage in non-traditional ways to suit their own sexual desires and or perversions."

What on earth does that mean? What safeguards? What perversions are you talking about?

Fred have you heard of Bountiful BC?

Why doesn't the government go after the cult members that engage in polygamy and some would say pedophilia and incest. Because if the government did they would lose on the same basis that gay "marriage" became acceptable.

Using a well worn cliche "A society that stands for nothing, falls for everything."

Hey, don't blame Bountiful on gay people. They are all straight...and their behavior has been going on for decades and decades - absolutely nothing to do with gay marriage.
