Another contradiction in global warming theory.....

But, nobody in the mainstream press will notice....
Scientists at MIT have recorded a nearly simultaneous world-wide increase in methane levels. This is the first increase in ten years, and what baffles science is that this data contradicts theories stating man is the primary source of increase for this greenhouse gas. It takes about one full year for gases generated in the highly industrial northern hemisphere to cycle through and reach the southern hemisphere. However, since all worldwide levels rose simultaneously throughout the same year, it is now believed this may be part of a natural cycle in mother nature - and not the direct result of man's contributions.

No it is man made. It is MY fault. I ate a lot of beans last year.

The melting of methane ice in the oceans, and the resulting *worldwide* increase in methane levels, has long been considered a very real possibility. The original article doesn't give much indication about what the authors thought about that scenario. If the researchers don't know about this possibility, then its pretty shoddy scholarship.

However, I suspect they do. I would guess that the second- and third-hand interpretation of the research is where the real results got lost.

So, do you have a link to the actual journal paper with the data? Real scientists take science quite seriously. It is usually considered poor form to just draw hasty conclusions without reading the actual research, weighing in a number of other factors, and asking important questions.

These reasons, and more, illustrate why blogscience is garbage science.

By the way, the melting of ocean methane ice could very well be due to rising ocean temperatures from AGW.
