Isn't this apartheid???

Are the Palestinian territories supposed to be Juden-frei???
The Palestinian Authority has issued yet another warning to Palestinians against selling their homes or properties to Jews, saying those who violate the order would be accused of "high treason" - a charge that carries the death penalty.

The latest warning was issued on Wednesday by the Chief [Islamic] Judge of the Palestinian Authority, Sheikh Tayseer Rajab Tamimi, who reminded the Palestinians of an existing fatwa [religious decree] than bans them from selling property to Jews.

Sheikh Tamimi's warning came in response to reports that Jewish businessmen from the US had purchased 20 dunams of land from Palestinians on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem.

Warning the Palestinians against engaging in "suspicious real estate deeds," the religious leader said that according to Islamic teachings it was a "grave sin" to sell houses and lands to Jews.

He said that the ban also applies to real estate agents or middlemen who are involved in such transactions.

He warned that anyone who ignores the warning would be punished in accordance with Islamic teachings and would also be ostracized by his community and family.

Sheikh Tamimi also issued a ban on renting out property to Jewish individuals and organizations under the pretext that they would spread moral, political and security corruption there.

These strictures laid on the Palestinians are a waste of time. If the property owners don't sell out now they will lose it in the end anyway. Benjamin Netanyahu has already declared his intention of increasing Jewish settlements which will expropriate even more land from the Palestinians.
I strongly support the right of Israel to exist and I detest the thugs that lob rockets into civilian settlements. What I do not support, and what I believe is the major cause of the problems in the middle east, is this stealing of property from the Palestinian people. This wrong-headed usurpation of land only heightens support for the radicals, displaces the few remaining productive Palestinians, and fuels the anti Semitic rhetoric of the Jew haters.

yeah...it's a bummer...but the arabs lost the war (and the war and the war and the war)...in what universe do the LOSERS of the war dictate the terms of surrender? Apparently, only when the winners are JOOOOOOS.

My personal solution: all arabs should leave Israel and be absorbed by arab countries...arabs appear incapable of coexisting with anyone else, so they should live with arabs...maybe jordan, egypt, saudi arabia...these countries will need to rescind their laws prohibiting palis from becoming citizens...maybe the UN can help.

Ridiculous! Apartheid is racism and as everyone should know, only white people and Israeli Jews can by definition, be racists. Check the Oxfud Dicshury.

Powell lucas: your argument seems to make sense in that the settlements are seen as an impediment to a Palestinian state. (Of course, they could always be incorporated into the shiny new state except for the desire for it to be Jewless. Lucky those Palestinians are Arabs and can't be called the R word.)

But there was no peace when there were no settlements. Establishing settlements provides incentive for the Pals to do a deal. It also has a lot to do with security.

Everyone and their dog criticises the settlements but in reality not building them would have been worse.

Could you imagine the lefty marxist jumping up and down screaming and crying if this was reversed? They would be even more apoplectic than usual.
