Egyptian forces shot dead an African man attempting to cross Israel's border.

Ha'aretz quoted a "security source" on Friday as saying that the Egyptian troops opened fire when the man refused on order to stop.

Egypt and Israel have been coordinating an effort to stop refugees from Africa, particularly Sudan, from reaching Israel.

Human rights groups have criticized the Egyptians as trigger happy and have called on Israel to care for the refugees until homes can be found for them elsewhere.
