Palestinians go crazy over Netanyahu....

And, of course, they threaten a new intifada...
"Netanyahu's speech is a blow to Obama before it's a blow to the Palestinians and Arabs," an Abbas aide said. "It's obvious, in the aftermath of this speech, that we are headed toward another round of violence and bloodshed."
Are the Palestinians really serious about peace? Don't they realize that peace means no violence? The more they use violence as a tactic to get what they want, the more it will just convince Israelis that they aren't capable of peace...

This whole issue is just so stupid and frankly a waste of the world's time. I think you will find that the whole non-jewish non-muslim world is really fed up. Honestly, the demands which Netanyahu made were ridiculous. No one actually believes that even if the Palestinians were given the right to have an army or defend themselves, they would in any way be able to mount a massive attack on Israel. Israel is surrounded by independent countries with military power who have been incapable in previous attempts to overthrow the Israelis. At best the Palestinian State will be an extremely poor country dependent on foreign aid. Making these ridiculous demands just serve to further insult and antagonize the Palestinians. I am reminded of a post WWI Germany. If you put people into a demeaning and impossible situation, that will only add fuel to their hate. Of course there has to be a Palestinian State, Of course there has to be the right to return. That is like trying to kick the Native People out of Canada. These people were living there in the first place. No one thinks it can be considered as just that they are effectively booted out of their homes. There have been mistakes made by both sides and there will have to be concessions made by both sides. Objective people who have no interest in either group can clearly see this. I think Israel will find as time goes by they will be in a much worse position, because they are the more powerful side and the world has a million other issues to consider.

Netanyahu certain knows how to get a reaction. He has laid down a list of conditions, now in a civilized discourse the opposite leadership is supposed to counter propose. Its called negotiation. The Palistinians are on their own, Obama is not going to get involved in this particular discussion. Cheers, Fern StAlbert

Dear DarkEmpress: I wish you knew your facts. No Israeli leader, no matter how left, will ever agree to the right of return of palestinian refugees into Israel. And, the Palestinians know this.

The Israelis have always offered concessions - just look at Camp David and Taba. Arafat was unable to compromise, and so there was no agreement.

When the Palestinians really desire peace, they can have it. All of Israel desperately wants peace, and is willing to compromise. If only there was a partner on the Palestinian side.

What is there to compromise? What is now Israel and the occupied territories was once Palestine. The Palestinians are now left with 22% of their historic homeland which is occupied and colonised by Israel. It's like someone moving into your house, brutally confining you to an ever shrinking part of the house and before you get to 'compromise' with them you must acknowledge them as the rightful owner.
