Gay man attacked in Swindon, UK...
I used to work in Swindon, so this is close to home...but why won't the article say who the perpetrators are????
A Swindon man who was attacked after a night out in the town has said he was beaten because he was gay.Hmmm...mixed race...I'd like to know more, no?
The victim, who did not want to be named, said he had been walking home with another man who was not gay from the Pink Rooms nightclub in the Old Town at around 4:30am on Sunday.
He told the Swindon Advertiser he was stopped by two men who asked why he had red glitter on his face.
He said this led to an angry exchange which included homophobic insults and he was then punched repeatedly by one of the men and kicked on the floor by the other.
The victim, who said he suffered back pain and bruising to his neck and right side, told the newspaper: “It was horrific. I have never experienced anything like this before.
“It was a hate crime. They hated me because I’m gay and that is the thing that makes it worse for me.”
He described one of the men as being white, quite broad and around 25 years old, with short black spiky hair. He was wearing knee-length shorts and a t-shirt.
The other man, who was said to be of mixed race, was also in his mid-20s and was wearing trousers and a t-shirt.

Jury deadlocks in psychiatrist's molest trial

(07-27) 18:28 PDT REDWOOD CITY -- The judge in the San Mateo County molestation trial of child psychiatrist William Ayres declared a mistrial Monday after the jury said it was hopelessly deadlocked.
Superior Court Judge Beth Freeman set a hearing for Aug. 28 in Redwood City for the prosecution to declare whether it would seek a new trial for the 77-year-old Ayres, who over a four-decade career saw hundreds of adolescent patients referred by the county's juvenile justice system, its court-appointed attorney program, pediatricians and social workers.
The jury deliberated for nine days, and had to start from scratch twice when panel members were replaced with alternates. The foreman said Monday that votes on the nine counts against Ayres ranged from 11-1 to 7-5, but at the judge's instructions did not say which way the panel was leaning.
Prosecutor Melissa McKowan said she believed the jury was hung 11-1 on most of the charges. She said she would talk to jurors before deciding whether to try Ayres again, but indicated she was leaning toward a retrial.
"My inclination would be to retry the case unless something dramatically different comes to my attention between now and" Aug. 28, McKowan said.
None of the jurors was available for comment.
Ayres had a long and distinguished career as a child psychiatrist. Educated at Yale, Ayres taught at Stanford and the UCSF Medical Center and is the former president of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
He was charged with molesting six former patients in his private, soundproof office under the guise of giving them medical exams. Some of the ex-patients, now men in their 20s and 30s, testified against him.....
