BBC ignored global warming scandal...
They knew about climategate but did nothing...
The BBC has become tangled in the row over the alleged manipulation of scientific data on global warming.
One of its reporters has revealed he was sent some of the leaked emails from the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia more than a month ago – but did nothing about them.
Despite the explosive nature of some of the messages – which revealed apparent attempts by the CRU’s head, Professor Phil Jones, to destroy global temperature data rather than give it to scientists with opposing views – Paul Hudson failed to report the story.
This has led to suspicions that the scandal was ignored because it ran counter to what critics say is the BBC’s unquestioning acceptance in many of its programmes that man-made climate change is destroying the planet.
Dr Benny Peiser, director of the Global Warming Policy Foundation, said: ‘We need to know more about the BBC’s role in this affair. Was Mr Hudson told by the BBC not to use the story?’

Journalists have been receiving emails from crackpots who deny climate change for years. The majority of them have been dismissed as originating from people with an agenda, usually those in the pay of those who have the most to lose. These emails shouldn't be overlooked but it is far from the smoking gun deniers are hoping for.
Agenda 'journalism' should be privately funded, their BBC like our CBC should be sold.
Only the wilfully stupid will still believe in global warming, let them, but the rest of us don't have to pay for their religious beliefs.
Privately funded so we end up with people like Rupert Murdoch controlling things? Just what the World needs, another Fox news.
If you can't see the global warming trend that's happening before your eyes then i would say you are either wilfully ignorant or just not that smart.
"it is far from the smoking gun deniers are hoping for."
I think it is a smoking gun to the extent that ordinary people have begun to question whether or not they have been duped. Whatever "science" comes up with eventually, in the short term, credibility of the AGW position has been seriously compromised.
Anon - What we see happening to the climate around the World with our own eyes will always swing the argument back to having to do something to stop global warming. Both sides can blurt out all the statistics they like but the argument will be won by the evidence we can actually see and i struggle to see how anyone can claim warming isn't happening. Argue about if man is to blame but to deny it is happening at all is the height of ignorance.
The glob may be warming, but is this man-made or is the sun or other natural causes to be blamed?
As good scientist we should be open minded to new ideas and be unbiased.
So lets not jump to conclusion that the GLOB is warming or not.
The Earth might indeed be warming but may be we have a lesser role that we are made to believe in. Many organisations/industries benefit from exegerating ligitimate concerns, the last that came to mind was the Millenium Bug.
So let's be objective and see what the data says. It will take some time to separat the fact from the myth.
The difference between Newton and Hawking is that Newton hated to be proved wrong but in the end his gravitaional theory was replaced by General Relativity, while Hawking gracefully accepted critism and now has Hawking radiation to his credit. He might yet to be proved wrong again but that's the spirit.
Lucy, are you completely brain dead ? The data is flawed at best, and fabricated at worst. It seems rather than examine this global warming theory with an objective mind, you have adopted it as a religon and like all converts you are a zealot. If you are OK picking up the tax bill for this crap, then I have no problem with your opinion.
"The majority of them have been dismissed as originating from people with an agenda,"
umm.... what is the basis of that assumption?
I would think people with (malicious?) agendas have bigger and better things to do than churn out emails to the BBC in an "attempt" to foil the "well meaning" proposals from copenhagen where only the "best of intentions" are being put to use........ of "saving the world".
"usually those in the pay of those who have the most to lose."
Those who pay? you mean everyone, assuming the enviro-fundamentalists/socialist/marxist get their way?
If your so guilt ridden over the gases that pass through human flatulence (composition of which is said to be 30% Co2) you can be the first to volunteer your money to that cause.
They should leave the rest of us out of it.
BTw, a person is more likely to be informed by a week of a fox news reels than a month of CNN and the like.... I know I used to leave CNN on all the time and they regurgitate the same information 30 times over until it is done to death.
[[Personally, I would prefer the sleek style and sophisticated British news outlets pre-leftist piece-meal brainwashing propaganda schemes/bias reporting and "bleeding heartism".]]
Even though I'm not a big fox news fan but I'd watch them (despite the sensationalism and etc.) as I'm smart enough to determine for myself what is news, facts, fictions and opinions from each other.
It's now where I go for information but if I had to choose...
PBS is good but I've been disappointed with them.
Their "FrontLine" news doc series are really really good.
So the BNP have been saying this and it is true the more I hear about the BNP the more I think they have it right and tell the truth unlike the other parties, welldone for telling the truth also GAYand Right from Louisa
